Laura Kroeger is a screenwriter and filmmaker based in Washington, D.C.
Laura is a screenwriter who writes darkly comedic, character-driven stories about women navigating complex social and political situations, often with satire and genre-bending. Her first screenplay, BIGGER IN TEXAS, was selected for the inaugural WIFV Narrative Script Development Fellowship in 2022, and won the Grand Prize in the Final Draft Big Break screenwriting competition in 2024.
Laura works in a variety of filmmaking roles, including as an associate producer on JACOB KAINEN: THE LAST EXPRESSION, which premiered at the National Gallery of Art earlier this year.
She is also an ACES-certified editor with a robust freelance editing business, where she assists both government and creative clients in polishing their work.
Prior to beginning her filmmaking career, she spent over a decade working in politics and the federal government: as a congressional staffer, a Defense Department analyst, and a city government lobbyist. She gained perspective on workplace dynamics and human nature that inform her writing and consulting daily.
When not writing, editing, or making movies, you can find her working at a romance bookstore in Alexandria, Virginia.
